Organizations
Three organizations doing the work that makes responsible adventure travel possible: setting industry standards, defining sustainability, and building emergency response for remote places.
Adventure Travel Trade Association
Founded in 1990, ATTA is the global membership organization for the adventure travel industry. It brings together operators, destinations, tourism boards, media, and guides around shared practices for safety, community impact, and responsible travel. ATTA also runs the industry's largest annual gathering, the Adventure Travel World Summit.

Global Sustainable Tourism Council
An independent non-profit that manages the global baseline criteria for sustainable tourism. The GSTC Criteria are used worldwide by governments, tour operators, hotels, and certification bodies as the reference point for what sustainability in travel actually measures. GSTC also trains industry professionals and accredits certification programs internationally.

Global Rescue
Founded in 2004, Global Rescue is a leading provider of field rescue, medical evacuation, and security services for travelers worldwide. Their teams include former special operations personnel and emergency medicine specialists who deploy to remote locations conventional providers can't reach. Their members have included explorers, expedition teams, and travel companies in more than 150 countries.
