When to Go to Namibia

Every season reveals a different face of the country. Here's how to find yours.

The transition to dry season accelerates—one of Namibia's most rewarding months. The Windhoek Karneval (WIKA) brings Germanic carnival traditions to the capital with masked balls, parades down Independence Avenue, live bands, and bratwurst alongside Namibian street food. Good Friday and Easter Monday (April 3 and 6, 2026) are public holidays. Rainfall drops sharply and roads firm up across the country. The landscape retains its green lustre while skies clear. Wildlife begins concentrating as temporary water sources dry up. Damaraland's desert-adapted elephants are easier to track along river courses. Comfortable temperatures, improving access, fewer visitors than dry-season peak, and competitive pricing. Arguably Namibia's best-value month.
