Namibia Tour Overview
Nine days by private charter across the dunes of Sossusvlei, the coast at Swakopmund, the Hoanib wilderness and eastern Etosha
Nine days by private charter to four of Namibia's great landscapes, two nights at each: a private desert reserve at Sossusvlei, the coast at Swakopmund, the remote Hoanib valley in the northwest, and a private reserve on the edge of Etosha. Three of the four stops are fully inclusive, and there are no long drives anywhere. Up to 4 guests in the aircraft.
9-Day Namibia Four Corners Fly-in Safari
You are met on arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport and handed your travel documents, then meet your pilot for a briefing before the flight to Sossusvlei, about an hour over the Naukluft mountains to the edge of the Namib sand sea.
A short transfer takes you to &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, on a private reserve of star dunes and desert mountains. Two nights here, fully inclusive, with the lodge's activities built into the stay.
Meals Fully inclusive
The dunes. Sossusvlei itself, a climb of Big Daddy, and Deadvlei with its nine-hundred-year-old camelthorn skeletons on cracked white clay, plus Sesriem Canyon, only two metres wide in places. Star dunes with as many as five crests rise three hundred metres here, in the oldest desert on earth.
The reserve fills the rest of the stay: a nature drive, a guided walk, quad biking on the dunes, San rock paintings and the petrified dunes, and after dark the lodge's observatory with its resident astronomer. A hot air balloon flight over the sand sea can be arranged as an extra.
Meals Fully inclusive
Back to the airstrip for a scenic flight north over the sand sea and up the Atlantic coast to Swakopmund, about an hour and a half, with the dunes running into the ocean below.
You are met at the airport and taken to the Strand Hotel, on the Mole with the sea on three sides. The afternoon is yours, and Swakopmund is a genuine oddity: Bavarian spires among palm trees, a lighthouse from 1902, German cake shops, and the adventure capital of Namibia all at once. Two nights here, with lunch and dinner at the town's cafes and restaurants.
Meals B
A full day set aside for the coast. Walvis Bay's lagoon, thirty minutes south, is a Ramsar wetland holding tens of thousands of flamingos along with pelicans and a Cape fur seal colony at Pelican Point.
The options are wide: a dolphin and seal cruise, Sandwich Harbour by 4x4 where the dunes run straight into the Atlantic, sea kayaking, dune quad biking and sandboarding. These are extras booked locally. Lunch and dinner are at your own arrangement.
Meals B
A free morning, then the flight inland to Twyfelfontein, about fifty minutes, and on to the Orutjandja airstrip at Hoanib Valley Camp, about fifty-five minutes more.
The camp sits in one of the most remote river valleys in the northwest, where desert-adapted elephant, giraffe and lion follow the dry Hoanib riverbed toward the coast. Two nights here, fully inclusive.
Meals Fully inclusive
A full day with the camp's guides: game drives along the riverbed tracking desert-adapted lion, elephant and giraffe, rhino tracking, nature walks, and time with local people.
The camp is a joint venture between local communities and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, and the researchers working on the desert-adapted giraffe are part of the stay. Nothing here is guaranteed; the animals range across enormous distances, and the guides spend their lives learning where to look.
Meals Fully inclusive
The flight east from the Hoanib to the Onguma Reserve on Etosha's eastern boundary, about an hour and twenty minutes, and a short transfer to Onguma Camp Kala.
Four suites on raised walkways around one of the busiest waterholes on the reserve. Two nights here, fully inclusive, with two activities a day.
Meals Fully inclusive
Two activities a day, into Etosha National Park and on the 34,000-hectare Onguma Reserve, which holds four of the Big Five. Between them, the camp's ground-level hide looks straight onto the waterhole.
Etosha holds 114 mammal species and 340 bird species around a 4,800 square kilometre salt pan, and the eastern side is flat endless plain and tree savannah, reached through the Von Lindequist Gate.
Meals Fully inclusive
A last morning activity, then the transfer to the airstrip and the flight back to Hosea Kutako International Airport, about an hour and a half.
Check-in for international flights closes two hours before departure, so afternoon and evening flights connect best.

Four regions, two nights each.
The Sossusvlei, Hoanib and Etosha camps are fully inclusive, with their activities, meals and local drinks. Swakopmund is bed and breakfast at the Strand Hotel, with lunch, dinner and the coast activities at your own choice and cost. Each day of the itinerary lists what you get.
Because one night at a remote camp is mostly arriving and leaving. Two nights give you a full day at each stop, which is where the dunes, the desert elephant and the Etosha waterholes actually happen.
Often, yes. Charter routes can be adjusted and nights added, subject to camp availability, and each change is quoted individually. Ask us.
What a charter safari is actually like.
A Cessna 210, chartered for your party alone, flown by a licensed pilot who briefs you before each flight. The rates are for two or four travellers.
About an hour from Windhoek to Sossusvlei, an hour and a half up the coast to Swakopmund, fifty minutes to Twyfelfontein and fifty-five on to the Hoanib, an hour and twenty to Etosha, and an hour and a half back to Windhoek.
Yes. Light aircraft carry limited weight and space, so soft bags are needed and there is a limit per person. We confirm the exact allowance when you book.
What is included, and what can change.
International flights, travel insurance, meals and activities in Swakopmund, optional extras such as a balloon flight, premium imported drinks, gratuities and visas.
The charter is priced on the aviation fuel cost at the time of quoting, so a significant change in fuel prices before travel can change the flight cost. We tell you if it does.
Solo departures are quoted individually because one person carries the whole cost of the charter. Contact us and we will price it.
What is realistic.
Possibly. They range enormous distances along the dry riverbeds of the northwest, so sightings are real but never certain. The Hoanib is one of the best places to look, and the guides there know where the animals were last seen.
Etosha holds 114 mammal species and 340 bird species, and two nights on the eastern side give you a real chance at elephant, lion, rhino and large herds of plains game. Nothing is guaranteed, and any operator who tells you otherwise is selling you something they cannot deliver.
The Naukluft mountains and the sand sea on the way in, the dunes meeting the Atlantic on the flight up the coast, and the empty gravel plains and mountains of the northwest on the way to the Hoanib.
