Starting points for your perfect trip
Camp among the surreal chalk formations of the White Desert, trek to 10,000-year-old rock art in the Gilf Kebir plateau, and traverse the Great Sand Sea's towering dunes with expert Bedouin guides. These multi-day 4x4 expeditions reach landscapes so remote they see fewer than a few hundred visitors a year.
Snorkel alongside endangered dugongs in the shallows of Abu Dabbab, dive with oceanic whitetip sharks at Elphinstone Reef, and swim among spinner dolphins at Samadai. From shore-based reef exploration to multi-day liveaboard expeditions, our marine biologist guides bring every encounter to life.
Hike the Sinai Trail with Bedouin guides whose families have navigated these granite mountains for generations. Routes pass through hidden walled gardens, natural desert pools, and peaks above 2,600 meters. This community-owned trail system supports all eight Sinai tribes and was featured by National Geographic as a model for responsible adventure tourism.
Go beyond the iconic sites with licensed Egyptologists who transform temples and tombs from photo stops into profound encounters with 5,000 years of civilization. From the Grand Egyptian Museum's pharaonic treasures to rarely visited Middle Kingdom tombs at Beni Hassan, our guides reveal the stories invisible to casual visitors.
Sail between Luxor and Aswan aboard intimate, wind-powered heritage vessels carrying just 8 to 20 guests. Dahabiyas moor at riverside temples and villages where large cruise ships are prohibited, including the floodlit quarries of Gebel Silsileh. Farm-to-table meals prepared by onboard chefs feature ingredients sourced from Nile-side farmers.
Share meals in brightly painted Nubian homes along the Nile, learn traditional crafts and language from one of Africa's oldest civilizations, then journey to Siwa Oasis to experience Berber culture at the edge of the Sahara. Stay at the candlelit Adrere Amellal eco-lodge, built entirely without electricity, where hospitality follows rhythms unchanged for centuries.

Very Common
Camelus dromedarius
The iconic 'ship of the desert' has been essential to Egyptian life for over 3,000 years, enabling trade, transport, and survival across the Sahara. With their single hump storing up to 36 kilograms of fat, these remarkable animals can travel 100 desert miles without water and drink 100 liters in just 10 minutes when they finally reach an oasis.
Rare
Neophron percnopterus
One of the few tool-using birds in the world, the Egyptian Vulture was sacred to the ancient Egyptians who associated it with the goddess Isis. These striking white birds with black-tipped wings can be seen soaring on thermals above the Nile Valley and desert cliffs.
Rare
Vulpes zerda
The world's smallest fox, perfectly adapted to desert life with enormous ears that dissipate heat and detect prey beneath the sand. These oversized ears can reach 15 cm, the largest relative to body size of any canid.
Very Rare
Dugong dugon
A gentle marine mammal grazing the seagrass meadows of Egypt's Red Sea coast. Approximately 30 individuals have been documented around Marsa Alam, the largest accessible population anywhere in the world. Ancient sailors may have mistaken them for mermaids.
Common
Chelonia mydas
A magnificent marine reptile that has traversed oceans for over 100 million years. The Red Sea provides critical foraging grounds, and encounters around Marsa Alam are common. Named for the green color of their body fat rather than their shell.
Very Common
Tursiops truncatus
Intelligent and charismatic marine mammals frequently encountered in pods along the Red Sea coast. At Samadai Reef (Dolphin House), spinner dolphins gather by the hundreds. They often approach boats and swimmers with apparent curiosity.
Rare
Crocodylus niloticus
Africa's largest freshwater predator, once worshipped as the god Sobek in ancient Egypt. The Aswan High Dam created Lake Nasser, which now harbors Egypt's main crocodile population. These apex predators can reach 5 meters and live nearly a century.
Rare
Capra nubiana
A magnificent wild goat navigating impossibly steep cliff faces in the Eastern Desert and Sinai mountains. Males carry spectacular backward-curving horns exceeding one meter, used in dramatic clashing battles during mating season. Once near extinction, conservation efforts have helped populations recover.
