Little Kulala with its own gate into Sossusvlei, Mowani among the Damaraland boulders, and Onguma Camp Kala's four suites over a busy waterhole, fully inclusive in the desert and in Etosha.
Namibia Tour Overview
Seven days by private charter from the dunes of Sossusvlei over the coast to Damaraland and on to the waterholes of eastern Etosha
Seven days by private charter from Windhoek to three of Namibia's great landscapes: the dunes at Sossusvlei, the rock country of Damaraland and the waterholes of eastern Etosha, two nights at each. The flight north runs up the Atlantic coast, and there are no long drives anywhere. Up to 4 guests in the aircraft.
7-Day Namibia Sossusvlei to Etosha Fly-in Safari
You are met on arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport and handed your travel documents, then meet your pilot for a briefing before the flight to Sossusvlei, about an hour and ten minutes over the Naukluft mountains to the edge of the Namib sand sea.
You land at the Sossusvlei airstrip for the transfer to Little Kulala, on a private reserve along the dry Auab river. Two nights here, with two activities each day.
Meals Fully inclusive
The dunes. Sossusvlei itself, Deadvlei with its nine-hundred-year-old camelthorn skeletons on cracked white clay, Dune 45, Big Daddy and Elim Dune, and Sesriem Canyon, cut by the Tsauchab River and only two metres wide in places. Star dunes with as many as five crests rise three hundred metres here, in the oldest desert on earth.
Little Kulala's own gate into the park means an early start among the dunes, and the second activity of the day is a nature drive, a walk or guided quad biking on the reserve. A hot air balloon flight can be arranged as an extra.
Meals Fully inclusive
Back to the airstrip for a scenic flight north over the sand sea and up the Atlantic coast to Swakopmund, about an hour and a half, with shipwrecks, the old diamond workings and Sandwich Harbour below. Around thirty minutes to refuel, then fifty minutes inland to Twyfelfontein.
A road transfer takes you to camp among the granite and sandstone of Damaraland, khaki plain and sheer rock that is home to desert-adapted elephant and black rhino. Two nights here.
Meals B / L / D
Two excursions are included: a nature drive into the dry riverbeds to look for desert-adapted elephant, which range widely and are never a guarantee, and a guided visit to Twyfelfontein.
Twyfelfontein holds more than two thousand rock engravings, the finest prehistoric rock art in southern Africa and Namibia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain close by. The sundowner viewpoint at Mowani looks out over all of it.
Meals B / L / D
Back to the airstrip for the flight north to Ondangwa to refuel, about an hour and a quarter, then on to the Mokuti airstrip on Etosha's eastern edge and a short road transfer to camp.
Two nights on the eastern side of the park, where the waterholes draw the wildlife in from the surrounding plains.
Meals Fully inclusive
Two activities a day, into Etosha National Park and on the 34,000-hectare Onguma Reserve, which holds four of the Big Five. Between them, the camp's ground-level hide looks straight onto the waterhole, and the Onkolo hide is close by.
Etosha holds 114 mammal species and 340 bird species around a 4,800 square kilometre salt pan, and the eastern side is flat endless plain and tree savannah, reached through the Von Lindequist Gate.
Meals Fully inclusive
A last morning activity, then the transfer to Mokuti and the flight back to Hosea Kutako International Airport, about an hour and a half.
Check-in for international flights closes two hours before departure, so afternoon and evening flights connect best.

Three ways to fly the same route.
Yes. Same aircraft, same legs and the same stops. The only difference is that Standard lands at Desert Homestead's own airstrip on the first day, and the other two land at the Sossusvlei airstrip.
Standard is dinner and breakfast at each lodge, with a sundowner drive and an excursion into the dunes at Sossusvlei, an elephant drive in Damaraland and four game drives in Etosha. Luxury is full board at Sossusvlei and in Damaraland with a guided excursion at every stop, and fully inclusive in Etosha. Premier is fully inclusive at Sossusvlei and in Etosha, with two activities a day, and full board with the same excursions in Damaraland. Each day of the itinerary lists what you get.
Often, yes. It has to be quoted individually because availability differs by camp, so ask us and we will put a price together.
What a charter safari is actually like.
A Cessna 210, chartered for your party alone, flown by a licensed pilot who briefs you before each flight. The rates are for two or four travellers because that is what the aircraft carries.
About an hour and ten minutes from Windhoek to Sossusvlei, an hour and a half up the coast to Swakopmund with a thirty-minute refuelling stop, fifty minutes on to Twyfelfontein, around an hour and a quarter to refuel at Ondangwa before Etosha, and an hour and a half back to Windhoek.
Yes. Light aircraft carry limited weight and space, so soft bags are needed and there is a limit per person. We confirm the exact allowance when you book.
What is included, and what can change.
Yes, for the activities listed at your comfort level.
The charter is priced on the aviation fuel cost at the time of quoting, so a significant change in fuel prices before travel can change the flight cost. We tell you if it does.
Solo departures are quoted individually because one person carries the whole cost of the charter. Contact us and we will price it.
What is realistic.
Etosha holds 114 mammal species and 340 bird species, and two nights on the eastern side give you a real chance at elephant, lion, rhino and large herds of plains game. Nothing is guaranteed, and any operator who tells you otherwise is selling you something they cannot deliver.
Possibly. They range enormous distances along the dry riverbeds and are not confined to any reserve, so sightings are real but never certain. The nature drive at every comfort level goes out specifically to look for them.
The Naukluft mountains and the edge of the sand sea on the way in, and on the flight up the coast the dunes meeting the Atlantic, shipwrecks, the old diamond workings and Sandwich Harbour.
